The blue-chip index even passed a one-month high this morning, rising 0.4%, boosted by easing Covid restrictions in China.

Among stocks, Countryside Partnerships soared almost 29% after shareholder Inclusive Capital mentioned a potential takeover offer with homebuilder worth 1.47 billion pounds.

Meanwhile, Ted Baker climbed 1.9% after a report said that it could agree on a 300 million pound deal with Authentic Brands.
