Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, October 17, 2020

The Youth (Y20) Summit was conducted virtually on October 15-17, 2020, concluding their activities for the year. The Summit was chaired by Mr. Othman Almoammar, Chair of the Y20 for 2020, Initiative Manager in Misk Foundation, and a member of Young Arab Leaders. The Summit was attended by delegates from more than 23 countries, representing the voice of youth. Discussions were focused on three main themes: Future Fit, Youth Empowerment, and Global Citizenship. These themes encompassed topics on inclusivity, youth leadership, post-COVID-19 opportunities, future skills, employment, entrepreneurship, multiculturalism, globalization, and sustainable recovery.

The Saudi G20 Sherpa, Dr. Fahad Almubarak, participated in the Y20 Summit, commending their role and perspective in enriching the G20 deliberations this year, and highlighting: "We believe that youth from around the world hold a very important role in forming not only their future but also the future of the planet. That's why we are keen on hearing Y20's recommendations for this year."

Following the conclusion of the Summit, the Saudi Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh, received the Y20's recommendations for this year, on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and stated in his speech that: " "This year, the Saudi G20 Presidency made sure to have the Y20's recommendations heard through the various working group meetings to which you were invited. We have given exceptional attention to discussing policies related to youth, their education and their work protection, as they are the real energy of the future. Addressing the challenges facing young people and protecting their jobs, especially in light of current circumstances, remains at the forefront of the G20's priorities and efforts."

Given that youth represent a vital portion of the global population, the Y20 offers an influential space for young leaders to engage with the G20.
