Health-care companies fell but not by as much as the broad market, as traders hunkered down in sectors that were not as susceptible to pandemic-related economic slowdowns.
BioNTech, the company behind one of the most widely used vaccines against Covid-19, has agreed to acquire a U.S. manufacturing plant from Kite, a unit of Gilead Sciences, in a deal aimed at strengthening its core business of developing cutting-edge cancer therapies.
Covid 19 case counts are rising in many parts of the world, including in U.S. regions with lower rates of vaccination, as the highly infectious Delta variant of the virus spreads rapidly.
