Health-care companies rose, but not by as much as the broad market, as traders rotated into cyclical sectors.

Shares of European drugmakers GSK, Sanofi and Haleon recouped some of their recent losses after the companies issued statements responding to reports about U.S. lawsuits over the discontinued heartburn drug, Zantac. Analysts at brokerage Deutsche Bank had warned that the companies could face billions of dollars in liabilities because of alleged cancer risks associated with Zantac.
