ILLINOIS TOLLWAY AWARDS $30.2 MILLION IN CONTRACTS FOR CONSTRUCTION AND PROFESIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES IN MAY Contracts include awards for a variety of work supporting the Move Illinois Program

DOWNERS GROVE, IL - The Illinois Tollway Board of Directors today approved four construction and professional engineering services contracts totaling nearly $30.2 million at its May Board meeting.

Nearly $127 million in contracts has been approved by the Tollway Board in 2021, as part of the tenth year of the Tollway's 15-year, $14 billion Move Illinois capital program.

To date, more than $8.8 billion has been invested by the Illinois Tollway since the Move Illinois Program began in 2012, with more than $2 billion of that total committed to small, diverse and veteran-owned firms. In addition, the capital program has created or sustained an estimated 94,890 total jobs as of April 2021.

"Overall, the Illinois Tollway continues to benefit from a competitive bidding environment for construction work as we continue to deliver improvements systemwide as part of our Move Illinois capital program," said Illinois Tollway Executive Director José Alvarez. "What's more, we have committed to focused on engaging small and new businesses in our work and the contracts approved today demonstrate our progress targeting those firms."

Construction contracts awarded include:

  • A $1.5 million contract to Western Remac Inc., Woodridge, IL, for toll plaza improvements on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90).
  • A $999,735 contract to Natural Creations Landscaping, Joliet, IL, for. landscaping improvements along the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355) between Ogden Avenue and Roosevelt Road.
  • A $607,779 contract to Cardinal State, Lake in the Hills, IL, for landscaping improvements along the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355) between Roosevelt Road and Army Trail Road.

Professional engineering services contract awarded includes:

  • A $27 million, five-year contract with CDM Smith Inc., Cambridge, MA, for traffic engineer services required by the Illinois Tollway's Trust Indenture.

The contracts approved today include two prime contractors and consultants and 10 subcontractors and subconsultants that are certified as disadvantaged, minority-andwomen-owned business enterprise (D/M/WBE) firms and three subcontractors and subconsultants that are certified veteran- owned firms. Commitments for D/M/WBE participation range from 27 to 32.47 per contract and commitments for veteran participation range from 3.09 to 5 percent per contract.

Illinois Tollway professional engineering services contracts are selected in accordance with the qualifications-based selection process (Illinois Public Act 87-673 (30 ILCS 535/1-535/80) Architectural, Engineering and Land Surveying Qualifications-Based Selection Act), which requires state agencies to

select professional architects, engineers and surveyors based on demonstrated competence and professional qualifications. Construction contracts for Illinois Tollway projects are competitively bid under the rules of the Illinois Procurement Code. All contracts are presented to the Illinois Tollway Board of Directors for review and approval.
