Canadian shares were marginally higher at midday on Tuesday, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index rising 15.09 points in the first session after the long weekend, led by producer, manufacturing and tech stocks. Shares in Ballard Power were higher in mid-trading after the company said it would partner with Germany-based Quantron to bring heavy-duty fuel-cell vehicles to market.

Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was slightly higher, rising 0.07% to 20833.58 while the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 rose by 0.20% to 1248.05.

Ballard Power Systems Inc. shares rose 3.4% to C$21.23 after it announced a partnership with Quantron AG to bring several fuel-cell electric truck platforms to market in Germany.

Other market movers:

i-80 Gold Corp. shares soared by 15% to C$3.10 after the company said it plans to create a comprehensive Nevada mining complex by acquiring certain processing infrastructure and gold deposits in the state.

Shares in EnCore Energy Corp. fell while those of Azarga Uranium Corp. rose after the two said they agreed to combine companies. EnCore shares fell by 4.2% to C$1.81 while Azarga Uranium shares climbed 15% to C$0.62.
