Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (AHEL) has plans to invest $86 million to add 765 beds over the next five years. Currently, the hospital chain has a total network to 73 hospitals. It added more than 1,000 beds a year in the past. In 2017, the firm announced its plans to slow down the speed of boosting infrastructure and would focus on increasing profitability and consolidating its operations, reported Business Standard. The healthcare provider already has 10,000 beds across its total network as on 31 March 2018. In the last few years, the firm has added 13 new hospitals with over 2,400 beds with an investment of INR 19.30 billion. Additionally, company also planning to add oncology facilities at the group’s already existing hospitals at places like Vizag and Bhubaneshwar. Under the expansion plan, the company plans to open a Proton Therapy Centre as part of a Comprehensive Oncology Referral Campus in Chennai, by the end of the current financial year. The company plans to boost its presence in Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and others. It also plans to open new hospitals in Tier II and III cities through smaller hospital model.
