BÖWE SYSTEC opened its doors to invited guests on four days, providing them with exclusive insights into its operations.

BÖWE SYSTEC opened the doors of its Augsburg Headquarters to invited guests from 13 to 15 May and on 21 May 2014, treating its guests to exclusive glimpses behind the scenes of the highly innovative company. This four-day kick-off event in the "BÖWE SYSTEC Exclusive Days 2014" series, held on a regular basis for small groups of customers, proved a resounding success. Visitors from all over the world were not only impressed by the comprehensive technical information and product demonstrations, but also relished the opportunity for individual consultation in a relaxed atmosphere.

BÖWE SYSTEC offered visitors a wide range of informative presentations and demonstrations on its current systems over the four days of the Exclusive Days 2014 kick-off event, with the emphasis firmly on the topics of efficiency, reliability and process automation. While trade fairs generally only provide a platform for showcasing particular systems, this in-house event gave industry insiders the opportunity to gain a comprehensive insight into the entire product range and production facilities of this innovative company. "There could hardly be a better opportunity to pass on information and debate various customer requirements in small groups of visitors than at the Exclusive Days events. I believe that everyone found it worthwhile as well as enjoyable," says Heiner Kudrus, CEO of BÖWE SYSTEC.

Record-breaking job changeover times

This was probably the first time that many of the visitors had been able to witness the new high-performance inserting system Fusion Cross in action. Its pioneering Flow-Principle is especially gentle on materials and machine while offering optimum reliability, even at top speeds. Guests were particularly impressed by the system's enormous versatility in the processing of enclosures and its fast job changeover times in less than three minutes. "Some customers devised a new mailroom concept even while the event was still underway, and resolved to convert to Fusion Cross systems throughout in line with the Single Machine Type Strategy (SMTS)," says Bernd Höpner, Executive Director Design & Development BÖWE SYSTEC GmbH. The new four-pocket folding module on the Fusion Cross, capable of folding up to 16 sheets simultaneously with absolute accuracy (single fold), also attracted plenty of attention.

Impressive inserting solutions to satisfy every need

The envelope unwinder Tornado demonstrated with the Turbo 8G caused quite a stir at the event: used for continuous envelope input feed, its ability to enhance productivity and efficiency in the mailroom was showcased to great effect. BÖWE SYSTEC's solution for individual envelope printing was also demonstrated in conjunction with a Turbo 8G model. "Thanks to Envelope Print On Demand (EPOD), we can print individual marketing slogans directly on the envelope in full color and brilliant quality, giving our customers a whole new range of options when it comes to raising awareness and improving efficiency," explains Joachim Koschier, responsible for Sales & Service worldwide. "The Bridge" is a 2013 addition to the BÖWE portfolio: it allows documents to be printed on demand in full color and high quality, transported onward automatically and subsequently inserted into envelopes without any need for manual intervention. This innovative concept thereby paves the way for the White Paper Factory within a system.

Innovations in the card sector

There was also plenty to discover in the card mailing sector. The innovative functions of the Cardcube card mailing system with integrated Watermill card storage system, first exhibited at Cartes 2013 in Paris, were showcased in the course of several live demonstrations. As well as inspecting the newly developed folding unit that prevents embossed cards from leaving any imprint on the carrier document, visitors could watch a robot attaching up to four plastic cards anywhere on a carrier document automatically, thus introducing a new note of flexibility into the card application process. "This card mailing system covers all the process stages fully automatically, from the printing or reprinting of the carrier document, via job preparation all the way to inserting, thus paving the way for the White Paper Factory in the card sector. It puts an end to error-prone manual interventions as a result of discarded cards as well as the subsequent reprinting process," explains Heiner Kudrus. BÖWE SYSTEC also offered visitors a glimpse into the near future in the form of an animated film presenting the mass storage system Wondervault. This automatically stores blank cards in a bank's vault, assembles them and subsequently outputs them as required.

Highlights in all product areas

Another highlight was provided by the new BÖWE SYSTEC brand topSenso, which offers top-quality reading technology, and showcased the camera solution topCam from the topCam product family.
The company also gave an insight into the world of self-mailing with the Sealer Flexi and Sealer Sealect, and showcased both proven and new solutions from the sorting sector in the form of the Simex Letter and Simex Compact. Much attention was once again devoted to Orbiter, with visitors impressed by the software platform's ability to help users structure the entire mailroom workflow both simply and efficiently.

There was plenty of opportunity to exchange ideas and views in between the presentations and demonstrations - not least during lunch in the new customer lounge in the assembly hall and at the evening events, although the bulk of the attention here was naturally focused on enjoying the excellent Bavarian cuisine and the convivial atmosphere.
