On the evening of 6 July 2017, the redesigned football facility at the youth centre "The Corner" was opened in High-Deck-Siedlung in Berlin's Neukölln. Jochen Biedermann, city councillor for social matters, city development and citizens' services in Neukölln, representatives from the High-Deck-Siedlung/Sonnenallee Süd community management and the BUWOG AG board member Herwig Teufelsdorfer took the opportunity to thank all those who participated in the redesign of the football field and handed the facility over to the young people.

Herwig Teufelsdorfer, COO of BUWOG, said: "Since the BUWOG Group acquired High-Deck-Siedlung a few years ago, we have constantly been committed as an owner to the creation and maintenance of an attractive residential environment in the development, and are delighted that children and young people now have a new, modern football field in direct proximity to their homes, and in time for the summer holidays."

The football field, which is very popular with children and young people from High-Deck-Siedlung and the neighbouring areas, had been in increasing need of modernisation as a result of years of intensive use, and was therefore redesigned in recent weeks using funds provided by BUWOG High-Deck-Residential GmbH & Co. KG. In the course of these measures, starting in spring 2017 the old football facility was initially demolished. The base layers were then rebuilt and repair works were carried out on the goal posts before the next step of constructing the new synthetic surface could begin. Subsequently, the equipment and the new nets made especially for this facility were installed.

The works were supervised by the planning consultants "GrünDesign - Landscaping and Garden Architects". As part of the process, children and young people were involved in advance in decisions about the colour scheme for the new synthetic surface as well as the equipment for the football facility.

Ines Müller from High-Deck-Siedlung community management said: "The young people who live here, the "The Corner" youth centre and the community management are very happy about the commitment shown by the owner BUWOG towards modernising the football facility at the youth centre. It was in our view absolutely great that the young people could be involved in the decision on the colour of the surface."
