• BUWOG to build a total of 191 residential units in the 23rd district
  • Model project for sustainable living - has already won the GBB Award

A few weeks ago, construction began on the BUWOG project "ERnteLAA". 160 Vienna Housing Initiative rentals and 31 privately financed rentals are being built at Meischlgasse 15 in the 23rd district of Vienna. The construction project excels especially well with its overall ecological concept, which encompasses the use of sustainable energy, urban gardening and charging stations for the future residents. In November 2016 the project was awarded the GBB Award, which places a special focus on sustainability.

BUWOG Managing Director for Development in Austria Andreas Holler is convinced: "The sustainable focus on urban gardening areas, green façades and animal species associated with the buildings offers residents everything they could want to live as environmentally conscious trendsetters in an urban area. We are also very pleased to provide 160 apartments here as part of the Vienna Housing Initiative for even more affordable housing, which Vienna so urgently needs."

The firm Mascha & Seethaler ZT GmbH is responsible for the architecture of the project. "ERnteLAA" will be distributed across two structures. Following the scheduled completion of the project in mid-2020, there will be large open areas for gathering and social exchange. These include community gardens, raised beds for urban gardening, playgrounds for children and young people as well as seating opportunities for relaxing and spending time. An underground garage for the building is also planned. On the ground floor there will also be space for a kindergarten, a local store and a pharmacy. With direct proximity to the "Erlaaer Straße" station of the U6, the project is optimally connected to the public transportation network and city centre of Vienna.
