CA Technologies Chief Litigator Richard Donoghue was appointed yesterday as a United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. The Eastern District encompasses three of the boroughs of New York City (Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island), and Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk Counties).

According to Attorney General Sessions, Donoghue has been appointed for his “excellent prosecution skills and the temperament necessary to succeed in this critical role.”

As a native New Yorker and a twenty-year veteran prosecutor, Donoghue joined CA in 2011. Prior to that he spent 12 years in the U.S. Justice Department serving as a federal prosecutor where he investigated and prosecuted a wide range of cases, including corporate fraud, public corruption, racketeering, street gangs and narcotics. In his position as Chief of the Criminal Division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, he supervised 120 lawyers and 60 support staff.

Donoghue succeeds Robert Capers. He was the popular choice by the White House, among alumni of the office, local law enforcement officials and Sen. Chuck Schumer.

“We are extremely proud that Rich has been nominated for this prestigious post. He has been a highly respected member of our team, and while at CA he distinguished himself managing our most critical litigation matters. His integrity and dedication will serve the Eastern District of New York well, protecting the community from the threat of crime while defending the civil rights of the people,” said Michael Bisignano, CA’s executive vice president and general counsel.

Rich received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Hofstra University and a Juris Doctor degree from St. John's University School of Law.
