On August 3, the Commencement Ceremony of Amur Gas Processing Plant, the largest natural gas processing plant in Russia, was held in Amur. Russia President Vladimir Putin attended the ceremony. Russia President Vladimir Putin Delivers Speech

Putin noted that Amur Gas Processing Plant is the largest natural gas processing project in Russia, as well as the largest project of Russia in the past 50 years. It is a part of the Eastern Natural Gas Program of Russia, and will play a critical role in the natural gas-oriented development and promotion of the social and economic development in the Far East, and provide guarantee for Russia to export natural gas to China as scheduled.

He Jiansheng, General Manager of CGGC, noted that the economic and trade cooperation between China and Russia will usher in brand new development opportunities driven by the Silk Road Economic Belt and the construction of Eurasia Economic Union, and Russia has become an important strategic market of CGGC. CGGC will continue to strengthen the long-term cooperation between China and Russia in energy sectors along the 'Belt and Road', especially the Far East, so as to bring Chinese and Russian people more benefits and strengthen the friendship between both countries.

Located in Seryshevo District, Amur, the Amur Gas Processing Plant Project is about 200km from the Heihe River in China, and is the source of East Branch of Sino-Russia Natural Gas Pipeline, the second largest energy corridor between China and Russia. With an annual natural gas production of 42 billion m3, it will be one of the largest natural gas processing plants in the world after it is completed. The completion and production of the Project is of great significance for achieving the Persification of natural gas import, guaranteeing the energy supply safety, improving the ecological environments in regions along the pipeline, and driving the sustainable and stable economic growth of China and Russia.
