Coffey has won a contract to project manage phase two of the New Zealand Government's Earthquake Prone Building Program, building on its successful delivery of phase one.

This win will see Coffey oversee the upgrade of 77 properties in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, including regional hubs throughout the country.

This follows our involvement in the first phase of the program, which has strengthened 344 units across the country since 2013 to meet national seismic legislation and new building standards.

Regional General Manager NZ Andrew Mailer said he was pleased to continue our involvement with this significant national project

'For me personally, it's great to see the population of New Zealand being able to live in safer and stronger homes in our local communities,' Andrew said.

'Phase two will see the introduction of further initiatives to modernise and upgrade fixtures and fittings in the properties - improving safety standards for the tenants.'

The program is helping Housing New Zealand achieve higher seismic ratings across their social housing property portfolio.

We'll be working closely with Housing New Zealand, consultants and contractors to complete strengthening upgrades.

This includes removing over 690 chimneys while insulating and reducing condensation and dampness. This will mean lower power bills, better health, and a higher standard of housing for tenants.

Coffey began work in early October, and continue to support Housing New Zealand in their mission to provide high quality, subsidised rental homes to people in the greatest need.
