DMY Technology IV : PlanetScope and SkySat Join ESA Third Party Mission Programme for Access to Planet Imagery for Research Community

We are pleased to announce that Planet's PlanetScope and SkySat data have officially joined the European Space Agency (ESA) Third Party Mission Programme, enabling ESA the ability to grant Planet data for the European research community. Through the ESA Earthnet Programme, researchers, scientists and companies from around the world can apply to access Planet's high-frequency, high-resolution satellite data for non-commercial use. Planet is thrilled to join ESA in their mission to further elevate climate research and land use monitoring across the Earth.

Initiated in 1976, the ESA Earthnet Programme is a "network for Earth," with the purpose of building an Earth Observation science community to acquire and share knowledge of our planet. Within this program, Planet joins more than 50 other missions to add near-daily PlanetScope imagery, 50 cm orthorectified SkySat imagery, and RapidEye archive data to this global network. In 2019, Planet entered into an agreement with ESA as a Third Party Mission under evaluation to provide data from its medium and high-resolution constellation.

We take our mission seriously as we work with our partners through the ESA Earthnet Programme, providing critical data to support ground-breaking work.
