Dr. Mbako Mbo

Executive Director

First National Bank of Botswana Limited (FNBB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mbako Mbo as an Executive Director to the FNBB Board with effect from 17 August 2023. This appointment is subject to ratification by shareholders at the next Annual General Meeting.

Mbako is currently the Chief Financial Officer of FNBB. He joined the Bank in February 2023 from Standard Chartered Bank Group (Singapore), where he was a Global CFO for Personal, Business Banking & Digital, having previously served as CFO for Standard Chartered Bank Botswana. Prior to joining Stanchart, Mbako worked for Botswana Development Corporation as the Corporation's CFO. He also worked for the African Development Bank, based in South Africa as a Fiduciary Specialist for a portfolio spanning several African countries.

During his career journey, now over 19 years, he has had an opportunity to serve on various boards of corporates as well as non-profit organisations.

A Chartered Accountant by training, Mbako also holds a PhD in Business Management and Administration from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. He is an alumnus of the Harvard University Executive education and is passionate about business transformational agendas.

The Board welcomes Mbako into his new role and is confident that his wealth of experience will be valuable to the FNBB Board.
