Strategic Collaboration with Japan Southeast Asia Innovation

Platforms for Startups in Asia

Heiwa Real Estate Co., Ltd. (president: Kiyoyuki Tsuchimoto; hereafter "Heiwa Real Estate" or the "Company") has agreed to collaborate with the Japan Southeast Asia Innovation Platform (hereinafter referred to as "JSIP" (*)) in creating growth opportunities and promoting innovation for startups active in Southeast Asia and Japan. Additionally, our company will participate as a consortium company (**) in JSIP.

Since 2017, our company has been operating the serviced office 'FinGATE,' targeting startups such as emerging asset management companies and fintechs in the Nihonbashi Kabutocho Kayabacho area, supporting approximately 90 startup companies today.

Moving forward, our company and JSIP will leverage our respective networks and know-how to engage in information exchange, networking, and dissemination of information, with the aim of creating global growth opportunities for startups, expanding the startup market, and addressing societal challenges and contributing to social development through innovation.

As an example, this November, we are considering the joint organization of a pitch event that will bring together venture capital based in Singapore and Japanese startups, in conjunction with the world's largest fintech event, the 'Singapore Fintech Festival,' held in Singapore.

  1. Japan Southeast Asia Innovation Platform (JSIP) is a co-creation member community that collaborates with administrative bodies, incubation facilities, universities, and venture capitals in Singapore to support the business expansion of Japanese companies in Singapore and the innovation of Japanese companies in Southeast Asia. The initiative was started in October 2021 by four founding members in Singapore. The operation of JSIP is managed by Dres Private Limited (Representative Shinsuke Inoue).
  1. JSIP Consortium Companies are companies and organizations that support the activities of JSIP. About 30 companies involved in new business development in Southeast Asia, including Japanese firms, are participating.

Background Leading to the MOU with JSIP

Since 2017, as an integral part of the Nihonbashi Kabutocho & Kayabacho Revitalization Project, we have been operating "FinGATE", a service office with five locations aimed at supporting independent asset management and fintech startups. Currently, "FinGATE" houses about 90 companies, including both local and global asset management firms, fintech ventures, and also Financial Market Entry Office, one stop English support center by JFSA and Local Finance Bureaus, and Japan first financial promotion organization "FinCity.Tokyo". We provide not only essential infrastructure such as office space but also host seminars, networking events, and run a members-only lounge, the FinGATE CLUB. Our services are designed to facilitate the development of startups at every stage of their growth.

Going forward, our company will collaborate with JSIP, which has a broad network of startups and incubation stakeholders in Southeast Asia, to support the global growth of domestic startups, accelerate the attraction of startup companies from overseas, and promote the internationalization of the community gathered at "FinGATE."

Comment from Takaki Nakamura, JSIP Founding Member

Since the launch of JSIP in 2021, we have felt the increasing daily need for cross-border business expansion between Japan and Southeast Asia. We are very pleased that the foundation for further boosting startups in Japan and Southeast Asia through cooperation between Heiwa Real Estate and JSIP will be strengthened. Furthermore, by combining our networks, we will further support the growth of startups in both Japan and Southeast Asia.

Comment from Akika Hamakawa, Deputy General Manager, Office Building Development Department

Since we began the development of "FinGATE" in 2017, we have been working to ensure that the Nihonbashi Kabutocho and Kayabacho area can play its part in making Tokyo an international financial city. It is a great honor and an exciting opportunity to collaborate with JSIP, which has a network with startup stakeholders in Southeast Asia.
