FOREWORD BY THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

GRI 102-14

Dear business partners of JOST Werke AG dear readers,

The year 2020 was a challenging one for all of us. The global spread of the coronavirus has changed our lives fundamentally and challenged many of the things that we used to take for granted. Never before has the inseparability of business success and social responsibility been more clear.

Ensuring the health and safety of our employees and business partners was a parcularly high priority during this challenging me. Despite these adverse condions, we connued our research and development acvies in 2020 and proved a soluon-oriented and trustworthy partner assisng our customers in overcoming unprecedented challenges.

As a manufacturer of safety-relevant systems for the commercial vehicle industry, we maintained our service and spare parts deliveries to support road-based logisc transport without interrupons throughout the pandemic, helping ensure the flow of all necessary goods to the populaon at large and to hospitals. We were also able to maintain deliveries of our systems to farmers, thereby making our own contribuon to safeguarding the producon of food during the crisis.

Although the clear focus during 2020 was on the health of our employees and on supplying our customers, we connued to press ahead with important issues in the area of climate and environmental protecon. We set ourselves goals to further reduce our CO2 emissions and our energy

consumpon. We are currently invesgang ways to make even more efficient use of resources and materials and to connuously reduce the volume of our waste. By 2030 we want to reduce our scope 1 and scope 2 CO2 emissions per producon hour worldwide by 50 %, compared to the fiscal year 2020.

We believe it is important to embed sustainability at all levels within the company and to strike a balance between the commercial success of JOST and our social and ecological responsibility as a company operang on the internaonal stage. The successful history of JOST is based on our ability to adapt quickly, to idenfy trends at an early stage, and to develop future-oriented soluons hand in hand with our customers.

We have ambious plans! It now gives us great pleasure to present in this report the current status of our sustainability acvies, our goals, and our strategy and to share with you informaon on our path towards a more sustainable JOST.

The Execuve Board of JOST Werke AG
