FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SENAI AIRPORT CITY FORUM 2018 SHARES POSITIVE

PROSPECTS FOR MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY IN

JOHOR

SENAI, 30 October 2018 - YB Jimmy Puah, Johor State International Trade, Investment and Utilities Chairman officiated the Senai Airport City Forum 2018. The event was co-organised by the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd (SAC), a member of MMC Group - one of Malaysia's leading conglomerate was also attended by Dato' Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad.

Senai Airport City is a 2,718-acre master planned industrial development project by SAC with completed infrastructures located adjacent to Senai International Airport. Senai Airport City is the new prime location for manufacturers in Johor, especially for industry players in food & electronic manufacturing, logistics & regional distribution centres and high value manufacturing.

In his speech YB Puah said, "Senai Airport City industrial development is the next premier industrial park in Johor, taking into account its excellent facilities, strategic location near the Senai International Airport, Johor Port, Port of Tanjung Pelepas and direct access to the North-South Expressway via dedicated interchange at Exit 254A. The potential growth in Senai Airport City will be a catalyst that will spur the development of Iskandar Malaysia attracting more foreign and domestic investments into Johor."

Dato' Sri Che Khalib also added, "The industrial park is already occupied by EcoWorld Development Group Bhd's (EcoWorld) Eco Business Park 2 and AME Development Sdn Bhd's IPark@ Senai Airport City that are developing ready-built factories for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). SAC as the master developer, is also currently in talks with a dozen multinational companies (MNCs) and manufacturers that are scouting for a regional distribution hub within the area. As at now, Hershey Co, North America's biggest chocolate maker, has chosen Senai Airport City as its address in Malaysia. We are also planning to attract existing Johor-based companies that are looking to relocate their businesses or planning for expansion."

Themed "Opportunities to Grow Your Business", Senai Airport City Forum 2018 brings major industry players from all over Malaysia and the ASEAN region to engage in imperative discussions on industry issues such as future opportunities, relevant strategies, business sustainability, emerging technologies and the future of manufacturers in Johor.

Under the Senai Airport City master plan, the 2,718 acre industrial park is being developed in five phases. The first phase, covering 1,200 acres, has seen a 50% utilisation. Some 400 acres of the master plan has been allocated to a Free Zone and 30% of the are currently occupied. The Free Zone allows for the exemption of import and export duties for manufactured products, so long as 80% of the finished goods are for export markets.

Senai Airport City development project is in line with the Johor state government's aspirations to relocate the industries and to have them operate in a managed industrial park. The project offers key infrastructure elements that are important for companies to set up their manufacturing facilities. These include ready converted land, completed earthworks, and electricity, water and a waste management system.

In addition to logistics and food, the project is also targeting hi-tech and green manufacturing, electrical and electronics, and aerospace manufacturing and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).
