An annular solar eclipse was sighted for about four minutes starting from 9:37 am in the country today (Dec 26).

The eclipse which entered Sri Lanka through the Delft Islands moved away from the country from the Batticaloa district.

The previous eclipse which took place on January 15, 2010 was sighted in Jaffna for some 10 minutes.

According to the Arthur C Clarke Institution for Modern Technologies, the next annular eclipse will be visible on May 21, 2031.
