New Century Resources Limited announced a significant improvement in metallurgical performance and metal production rates from operations at the Century Zinc Mine. Zinc Recovery Performance Uplift: As part of the ramp up to 12Mtpa operations, New Century has initiated slurry commissioning and optimization of cleaners 2B, 3B and 4B. This has allowed the full cleaner circuit of the processing plant to be incorporated into operations for the first time. As, early stage performance of the upgraded cleaner circuit has generated a step change in plant performance, with operations achieving a 7-day moving average zinc recovery of 52% and shift results up to 55% in September 2019 to date. Optimization of the cleaner circuit is anticipated to continue for approximately the next two months. Metal Production Rate & Cost Reduction: Operations at Century continue to deliver progressive improvement in overall metal production rates and an associated reduction in operating costs. For the period from May to August 2019, Century operations achieved: increased average daily zinc metal production of >30%; and decreased C1 costs of ~24%.
