Tokyo, Japan - October 27, 2022 -The joint venture consisting of three Japanese companies: Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. (President: Takuzo Shimizu), Toyo Construction Co., Ltd. (President: Kyoji Takezawa) and Rinkai Nissan Construction Co., Ltd. (President: Yuji Maeda), as well as three Indonesian companies: PT PP (Persero) Tbk and PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk and PT Jaya Konstruksi Manggala Pratama Tbk, has been awarded the Package 6: Container Terminal No.2 Construction Patimban Port Development Project Phase (1-2), by the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation of the Government of Republic of Indonesia. The contract amount is approximately JPY 48.4 billion for the JV, and the project is scheduled to complete in October 2025 with the construction period of 34 months.

This project is financed by a yen loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project is to expand the container terminal at Patimban Port (container terminal, vehicle terminal, etc.), which was newly constructed in the eastern part of the Jakarta metropolitan area and opened for services in 2021, as an international trade hub along with Tanjung Priok Port. The development of Patimban Port is expected to further optimize logistics operations in the Jakarta metropolitan area, where many manufacturing hubs of Japanese companies are concentrated.

The Yen loan scheme, following Phase 1 of the project, includes the Special Terms for Economic Partnerships (STEP), which aims toward technology transfer to the developing countries using Japan's superior technologies and know-how in the field. This project is scheduled to utilize Japanese technologies in the reclamation work, soil improvement work, pier construction, etc. providing shorter work schedule through time-saving and rapid construction methods.

Penta-Ocean Construction, Toyo Construction, and Rinkai Nissan Construction have worked continuously in numerous projects in Indonesia such as ODA financed projects and petrochemical and LNG-related facilities including factory buildings of the Japanese manufacturers. Each company will continue to contribute to the further development of the country by making full use of the abundant experience and technical strength cultivated both in Japan and overseas.
