FICO Eataly World has got off to a good start in the six months since it opened: 1,500,000 visitors, three quarters from outside Bologna and 8% from outside Italy, generating revenues of 25.9 million Euro for FICO's restaurants, stores, laboratories, courses and services. Furthermore, over the six months, FICO Eataly World has strengthened its positive impact on Bologna, with allied industries worth 13.3 million Euro according to Nomisma, an Italian independent company that carries out economic research and consulting. The project has also raised the international profile of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region: like The New York Times, Lonely Planet ranks the region top of the list of places to visit in Europe in 2018, in part thanks to the presence of FICO. The park also won the Mipim Award in Cannes, the global real estate sector's equivalent to the Oscar.

'The first six months of FICO Eataly World have been very encouraging, also given the interest the project has attracted both in and outside Italy,' commented Andrea Cornetti, General Manager of Prelios SGR, which formed and managed the PAI-Parchi Agroalimentari Italiani Fund. 'FICO is already producing results in the direction we hoped for, and generating returns not just from a commercial viewpoint but also in scientific and educational terms: 30,000 students from all over Italy have already been registered and booked for visits with school trips through June. We should also remember the contribution this initiative is making to the entire local area, with the creation of numerous jobs.'

The figures for FICO Eataly World, the world's largest agri-food park opened on November 15 last year, were announced on May 30 at a press conference attended by the Mayor of Bologna, Virginio Merola, the CEO of FICO Eataly World, Tiziana Primori, the President of Fondazione FICO, Andrea Segrè, the General Manager of Prelios Sgr, Andrea Cornetti, the General Manager of CAAB, Alessandro Bonfiglioli. Also present were Celso De Scrilli, President of Bologna Welcome, Giancarlo Tonelli, director of ASCOM Bologna, Luca Dondi, CEO of Nomisma, and Paolo Bonferroni, President of City Red Bus.
