Renewable energy production in Portugal has reached new highs this year, with record values achieved in hydro and solar energy over the past two days.

As of 12th March at 12:00, a new peak in solar energy production was reached, totaling 1976 MW. Concerning hydroelectric energy production, the new historical maximum of 7280 MW was reached at 22:15 on 11th March, surpassing the previous maximum of 6907 MW recorded on 28th February.

Between 1st January and 12th March of this year, renewables supplied 86% of the national consumption. These records confirm that Portugal has maintained a sustainable trajectory in the gradual incorporation of endogenous renewable sources, while maintaining the primary objectives of supply security and service quality.
