Wind energy production supplied 69% of Portugal's electricity consumption on October 17, thanks to the generation of 108 GWh of wind energy, a new historical high. The previous record, dating back to January 16 of this year, was 106.3 GWh.

Examining the production mix on that day, it becomes evident that renewable production met 92% of the daily consumption, totaling 146 GWh. On October 17, wind energy production also reached a new peak of 4843 MW at 2:30, surpassing the previous record of 4785 MW achieved on March 3, 2022.

It's worth noting that, on average, wind production supplies approximately 25% of the national electricity consumption.

Last week, the national system experienced 3 days (from the 18th to the 20th) without electricity production from gas.
