CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Oct. 1, 2013)- Joy Fitzgerald, director of Diversity and Workforce Effectiveness at Rockwell Collins, is one of more than 150 senior women executives featured in Profiles in Diversity Journal's 12th annual Women Worth Watching issue.

Fitzgerald, who joined Rockwell Collins in 2007, is featured in the September/October 2013 issue of the magazine, which profiles women executives who share their views on who and what contributed to their success. She joins executives from other aerospace companies, including Honeywell Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Raytheon, Sandia National Laboratories, United Airlines and US Airways.

Each executive in the magazine shares her personal leadership journey in a one-page profile. All of the women were nominated by peers in their organization, and the majority of them acknowledge the dedication and guidance of parents and mentors as critical to their success.

"[My mentors] have taught me, among other things, that a leader's role is not to be liked, but to be respected," Fitzgerald said in the profile. "Our decisions will not always be popular, but will be respected if we are fair and reasonable in the process."
