Saudi Re for Cooperative Reinsurance Company announced earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2016. For the year, the company reported net profit before Zakat of SAR 18,463,824 or SAR 0.19 per share against SAR 106,315 or SAR 0.001 a year ago. Gross written premiums were SAR 985,510,354 against SAR 804,825,788 a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 938,184,306 against SAR 754,791,974 a year ago. Net profit of policy holder’s investment was SAR 4,212,408 against SAR 1,138,238 a year ago. Net profit of shareholders capital investment was SAR 19,964,242 against SAR 4,705,748 a year ago. The reason for increase in the net income was mainly due to increase in net earned premiums by 128% which had a major impact in the underwriting results. In addition there was an increase in net policyholder’s investments income by 270% and there was an increase in net shareholders investments income by 324%.
