Since we introduced Box Governance last year we've seen incredible interest from enterprises across the globe. Businesses large and small in industries like finance, professional services, and retail have adopted Box Governance to manage sensitive data, comply with business policies and meet legal requirements. As enterprises move their content and workflows to the cloud, they need to manage the entire lifecycle of their content -- from creation to retention and eventually disposition -- from an easy to use and centralized platform.

Today, we're excited to share two important updates. First, we're announcing that Engle Martin, iMatchative, North Highland are among the 200 businesses that have adopted Box Governance since we introduced it last June. Second, we're thrilled to share that document watermarking and device trust are now generally available as part of our native information governance capabilities, which businesses like AstraZeneca and POPSUGAR are already finding value from as early adopters.

Deter Data Loss in Seconds with Document Watermarking

Document watermarking provides a visual deterrent to data loss. It automatically marks documents with the viewer's email address and timestamp so if there's a leak it's much easier to track down who was responsible. Watermarking a file takes seconds, and the watermark travels with the document from preview to download, making it traceable even after it leaves Box.

Secure Box Access with Device Trust

Meanwhile, device trust enables customers to regulate Box access based on a given device's security status. This ensures that only secure devices, such as those that are corporate managed or encrypted, can access Box. Looking to eliminate their dependency on cumbersome RSA tokens as a second factor authentication, AstraZeneca chose device trust because it optimizes security without hindering collaboration.

Box Customers Retain Nearly a Billion Files with Box Governance

We want Box Governance to be the absolute best tool for managing content in the cloud. We've seen strong adoption -- customers are in the process of moving nearly a billion files under retention policies into Box -- and continue to invest in advanced security and governance capabilities so we can better serve them and their growing needs.

Both document watermarking and device trust are available today for Box Enterprise and Elite customers. Watermarking is defaulted to 'on' and can be enabled at the file or folder level by users with editor permissions and above. Please contact your Customer Success Manager to enable device trust.
