SJVN : organized Awareness Talk on Plastic Waste Management during Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign 2019

As per the directions of Ministry of Power, GoI, SJVN observed 'SWACHHTA HI SEWA'campaign,an initiative of Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoIfrom11^th September to 02^nd October, 2019 in all of its offices and projects. The theme of this year's Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign was Plastic Waste Management.

Under this campaign, anawareness session was organized today at SJVN Corporate Headquarters, Shimla. On this occasion, Guest Speaker Sh. Ajeet Kumar Negi, Senior Environment Engineer, HP Pollution Control Board, Shimla apprised about the mission and need for Plastic Waste Management, Waste Management Act, 2016 and the steps taken by govt. in this area. Sh. Negi also informed about the hazardous impact of plastic on air, water & earth (surface & underground).

Sh. D.P. Kaushal, Chief General Manager (HR), SJVN, highlighted the features of Swachh Bharat Mission and urged the employees to adopt healthy environmental practices in daily life and avoid plastic use. Activities undertaken during Swachhta Hi Sewa viz construction of toilets, implementation of EMP (Environment Management Plan), proper disposal of collected waste such as muck, garbage, awareness rallies, various competitions in school/ colleges etc.by SJVN offices and its Projects were also shared during the talk.
