SmartPros Promotes key employees at corporate and subsidiary levEL

HAWTHORNE, NY - January 21, 2014- SmartPros Ltd. (Nasdaq:SPRO), a leader in the field of accredited professional education and corporate training, today announced that it has formally promoted John Fleming, previously the president of SmartPros' Loscalzo Associates subsidiary, to the new role of Executive Vice President of SmartPros Ltd. In addition, SmartPros has promoted Stacey Painter (nee Tedeschi) to President of Loscalzo Associates. Ms. Painter was previously the Executive Vice President of Loscalzo Associates. Also, Mike Fowler, SmartPros' Senior Vice President of Business Development has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Business Development, as he continues to lead SmartPros business development teams and Co-lead Smartpros Financial Campus division.

John M. Fleming, CPA, MBA

Mr. Fleming, came to SmartPros Ltd. when SmartPros acquired the assets of its Loscalzo Associates subsidiary in 2008.  Most recently, he was the president of Loscalzo Associates, after spending 22 years with Loscalzo as its Director of Accounting and Auditing. John has been a frequent presenter on accounting and auditing topics in SmartPros monthly video series CPA Report. John is a graduate of LaSalle and Drexel Universities with degrees in accounting and finance. His practice experience includes audit, tax, consulting, office management, and human resource responsibilities with Deloitte LLP, Richard Eisner & Company LLP, and Ernst & Young LLP. Mr Fleming, a Pennsylvania CPA, served as the President of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and currently serves as a member of the Institute's Accounting and Auditing Technical Committee as well as co-chair of the Philadelphia Chapter's International Financial Reporting Committee. He has also served as the President of the American Accounting Association's Mid-Atlantic Region.

Stacey Painter (nee Tedeschi), CPA

Stacey has over 20 years of experience in both the public and private accounting industries.  She has been providing technical training to audiences across the country on subjects ranging from International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and related FASB/IASB joint projects, to regulatory reform and the Dodd-Frank act.  Her passion, enthusiasm, energy and the ability to speak to all levels of professionals has made her a sought after speaker. Before pursuing her passion for training and development full time, Stacey spent 14 years with Resources Global Professionals.  Most recently Stacey was the Managing Director of Accounting and Finance Services working with the firms US offices in developing go to market strategies around accounting initiatives, as well as providing technical training on site at clients around the country. Prior to joining Resources, Stacey was the Corporate Controller of a publicly traded manufacturer of golf equipment - Square Two Golf.   In this capacity she was responsible for all aspects of accounting, financial reporting (SEC), planning and budgeting as well as Human Resources and Internal Control.  Ms. Painter  began her career and spent 6 years at Deloitte & Touche specializing in middle market manufacturing.  She received her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Pace University in New York.

Mr. Fowler leads field sales and business development efforts for the SmartPros. Mike has 29 years of business development, organizational development, marketing and strategy positions in environments that range from Fortune 500 organizations to software and Internet startups. His experience includes 15 years in a number of sales, sales management, and organizational development roles at McGraw-Hill Corporation where he was involved in helping to launch some of their most successful digital products and businesses. More recently he has held sales, marketing, and strategy positions at Kaplan, Thomson, and SkillSoft before joining SmartPros.
