SMRT INTRODUCES WAB SERVICES ON FOUR MORE BUS ROUTES TO SERVE PASSENGERS IN WHEELCHAIRS

1. To serve passengers in wheelchairs, SMRT Buses will introduce Wheelchair Accessible Bus (WAB) services on four more trunk service routes on 29 April 2012. The four services are 187, 852, 857 and 970. With these new WAB services, SMRT Buses will operate a total of 17 WAB services.
2. Services 187, 852, 857 and 970 will connect passengers to MRT and LRT stations such as Boon Lay, Bras Basah, Bukit Panjang, City Hall, Esplanade, Phoenix, Promenade, Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar, Teck Whye and Yishun.
3. The new WAB services will also call at medical facilities such as Econ Medicare Centre & Nursing Home (Choa Chu Kang), Gleneagles Hospital and Medical Centre, Jurong Medical Centre, Jurong Polyclinic, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital & Nursing Home, Mount Alvernia Hospital, and Singapore Buddhist Free Clinic (Jurong and Redhill).
4. SMRT Buses Vice President, Ms Kang Huey Ling said: "SMRT Buses is committed to continuous improvement in our service. We will bring in more wheelchair accessible and fully low floor buses, and increase our WAB services to provide greater convenience to passengers in wheelchairs."
5. Every SMRT WAB is marked with a blue decal at the front of the bus showing a passenger in wheelchair, and two larger decals on the front doors asking
passengers to be patient while our Service Leader attends to passenger(s) in
