FOLSOM, NJ, October 3, 2022 - In recognition of the fifth annual National Energy Efficiency Day, SJI (SJI:NYSE) is joining regional and national organizations, businesses, utilities, universities and individuals in promoting energy efficiency - the quickest, most cost-effective way to meet the state and region's energy needs, cut utility bills and reduce pollution.

"At SJI, we are passionate about responsible stewardship of the environment," said Mike Renna, president and CEO, SJI. "We see it as our responsibility to engage our customers in energy efficiency, providing education, resources and additional support that help them save money and conserve energy."

Expanded Energy Efficiency Program
In 2021, SJI's utility subsidiaries, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, received regulatory approval for their largest-ever energy efficiency program. The program, Conserve, offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy efficiency programs and energy saving tips and resources to customers.

In addition to providing greater access to financial incentives and energy assessments, Conserve also features an online marketplace with instant rebates and discounts on energy-efficient products. Now through December 31, 2022, customers can get a FREE* Google Nest Thermostat through the South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas online marketplaces. *Free before taxes and shipping.

Engaging the Community in Energy Conservation
SJI is also committed to forming meaningful partnerships with organizations that provide energy conservation education, resources and tools. Each academic year, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas partner with the Alliance to Save Energy to deliver the EmPowered Schools program, a year-long, STEM-based curriculum that educates students about energy efficiency. In addition, the program provides participating students with tools and resources to save energy at home and in school. As a result, participating schools achieve, on average, five to fifteen percent energy savings through no-cost operations and behavior changes.

In addition, SJI and its utilities partner with local municipalities, community-centric organizations and nonprofits to provide customers and community members with energy efficiency information and materials at local events. This week, SJI's energy efficiency team will participate in Rutgers University and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities' "New Jersey Clean Energy Conference: Achieving Our Clean Energy Future " event. The team will engage with industry experts, state leaders, contractors and other stakeholders in the company's clean energy efforts and energy efficiency programs. SJI's President and CEO, Mike Renna, will participate in the conference's "Emerging Technologies: Research and Development in Clean Tech" panel discussion.
