TERNA IS A PARTNER OF THE 2021 RIMINI MEETING

The Italian national electricity grid operator affirms its commitment to support the country to enable

the energy transition

Rome, 13 July 2021 - Terna, the Italian electricity grid operator, is partner of the 2021 Rimini Meeting, focussing this year on "The courage to say 'I'".

The group, led by Stefano Donnarumma, with about 75,000 km of lines and 889 electrical substations, is the largest independent electricity grid operator in Europe and the director and enabler of the Italian electricity system and the energy transition. With the 2021-2025 Industrial Plan, which foresees nearly 9 billion in investments, and a Ten-Year Development Plan of over €18 billion, Terna is making its largest investment ever in Italy to ensure a more secure, efficient and sustainable electricity system every day.

At the Meeting for Friendship Among People, the high and extra-high-voltage grid operator will use its 75 sq. m stand to present an innovative virtual reality training project for climbing pylons, making it possible to virtually climb a support 30 meters high. In particular, with the help of a VR visor and two controllers, it will be possible to simulate a maintenance intervention: from preparing the personal protective equipment up to the operations at height of securing the conductors and replacing the insulators. The virtual reality climbing project was developed internally by Terna to enhance the traditional field training.

In addition to the focus on innovation and digitalisation, Terna will dedicate an area to sustainability. Attention to the environment and the territories is a strategic driver for Terna and one of the pillars of the Group's business. The centrality of sustainability in the business is reinforced in the "Driving Energy" Industrial Plan through the definition of specific targets aimed at creating value in the medium-long term. Terna is leader in the global Electric Utilities sector of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for its sustainability performance and has been recognised as one of the 50 most sustainable companies in the world.
