Western Asset Intermediate Muni Fund Inc. reported unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended February 28, 2017. For the quarter, total net investment income was $1,455,096 or $0.10 per share against $1,497,171 or $0.11 per share a year ago. Total net realized/unrealized gain was $1,668,197 or $0.12 per share against $1,964,055 or $0.14 per share a year ago. Net increase in net assets from operations was $3,024,000 or $0.21 per share against $3,446,979 or $0.25 per share a year ago.
Western Asset Intermediate Muni Fund Inc. (The Fund) is a closed-end management investment company. The Fundâs investment objective is to provide common shareholders a high level of current income exempts from regular federal income taxes consistent with prudent investing. Under normal market conditions, the Fund invests at least 80% of its total assets in municipal obligations. The Fund also maintains a dollar-weighted average effective maturity of between three and ten years. Under normal market conditions, the Fund will invest at least 80% of its total assets in debt securities that are, at the time of investment, rated investment grade by a nationally recognized statistical rating organization (NRSRO) or if unrated, of equivalent quality as determined by the investment manager. transportation, health care, power, education, housing, solid waste, leasing, short term investments, and others.
