Airbus delegation headed by Klaus Richter, Airbus Chief Procurement Officer, paid a visit to VSMPO-Avisma production facilities. The delegation also included: Nicole Lecca , Senior Vice President, Materials Procurement, Raphael Duflos , Vice President, Materials Procurement, Gaponuk A.V, Director, Industrial Cooperation, Airbus Moscow.

Mikhael Voevodin, CEO of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, demonstrated to the guests the results of the wide modernization, which has been done by VSMPO-AVISMA for latest decade. Members of the delegation visited the main production sites of VSMPO and saw the melting shop , forging and rolling complex, machining shop.

VSMPO-AVISMA is an important titanium supplier for Airbus, covering some 50% of the company needs in titanium. The cooperation between Airbus and VSMPO-AVISMA dates back to the 90s, when first contracts for the supply of raw materials were signed. However, in recent years materials nomenclature supplied by the Russian company has changed considerably and now includes higher added value products.

At the moment VSMPO-Avisma is supplying titanium forgings for all Airbus aircraft programmes. Russian titanium is used in the main landing gears of the A380 and A350 XWB as well as some structural elements of the A320neo.
