Recognized Industry Leaders in Healthcare Supply, Procurement & Distribution Join O&M

July 25, 2019

RICHMOND, VA - July 24, 2019-- Owens & Minor, Inc. is pleased to announce the strategic expansion and strengthening of its senior leadership team with several recent hires. Taken together, these additions confirm Owens & Minor's commitment to recruit and invest in proven leaders.

Since the announcement of Jeffrey Jochims as the new EVP of Strategy and Solutions in April, several seasoned industry senior leaders have joined the Owens & Minor team. 'We are excited at the momentum that's building within Owens & Minor,' said Edward A. Pesicka, President & Chief Executive Officer of Owens & Minor. 'Throughout the industry, people are seeing positive changes taking place within our company. Our service levels have been restored, our confidence is building, and we are hearing very positive things from our customers. Our ability to attract and hire world-class leaders is validation of our efforts.'

Owens & Minor welcomed Mark Zacur to the role of SVP, Chief Procurement Officer, in June. Zacur brings over 20 years of experience in supplier management, including various leadership roles in healthcare distribution and manufacturing. Prior to joining O&M, Mark was Vice President and General Manager of Thermo Fisher Scientific's (TMO) Healthcare Market Division. His professional background also includes prior management roles at Bayer Corporation, Reichhold Chemicals, as well as Monsanto.

Zacur has served as a Board Member of The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) since 2012 as well as HIDA's Board Chairman in 2015. Additionally, Mark also serves as a Board Member at St. Clair Hospital, a non-profit and independent acute care medical center (a Watson Health Top 100 Hospital and member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network) located in southwestern Pennsylvania.

'Mark brings extensive professional experiences from his prior executive leadership roles,' said Edward A. Pesicka, President & Chief Executive Officer of Owens & Minor. 'We recognize that Mark's expertise and successful track record will be instrumental to growing our business.'

Zacur shares, 'I'm incredibly excited to join the Owens & Minor team. It is clear that we have an exceptional opportunity to continue building on our unique value proposition. I am committed to ensuring that our customers receive the products they need to serve their patients in the most efficient manner possible. In addition, I look forward to collaborating with our supplier partners to bring the best possible available products and services to market.'

Zacur holds a B.S. in Safety Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned his M.B.A., with concentrations in Operations and Strategy, from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Mark replaces Charlie Colpo, SVP, Strategic Supplier Management, who has been with O&M for 38 years, and will retire in August. Colpo is a long-time leader within the company and the industry. 'Thank you, Charlie, for a career dedicated to Owens & Minor and its customers, teammates and shareholders. Your remarkable contributions are a testament to your character. We wish you all the best in your retirement,' offered Pesicka.

Other Recent Key Additions

In addition to Zacur's arrival, several other notable senior industry leaders have recently joined O&M's leadership team. These include:

  • Rhonda Griscti - Vice President, Global Procurement (formerly Chief Procurement Officer and VP of Procurement, Medidata Solutions)
  • Sean Inglis - Regional Vice President, Commercial Services (formerly VP and General Manager of McKesson Pharmaceutical Services and Solutions)
  • Kevin McDonnell - Northeast Regional Vice President, Operations (formerly EVP of Strategic Operations and Logistics, Concordance Healthcare Solutions)
  • Charlotte Perkins - Vice President, IT Governance & Administration (formerly Corporate Development Officer, University of Virginia Health System)

Concluded Pesicka, 'These recent additions are a key element of our strategy to responsibly invest in the business to enhance overall performance and accelerate growth. We're humbled and proud to be able to consistently attract such proven leaders to our team. Our story is resonating, and that's energizing.'
