Birtley, County Durham, UK. 19. February 2019- Parker Bioscience Filtration - part of Parker Hannifin, the world's leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems - has opened a new testing facility at its Birtley, UK site to further strengthen the support it offers the global biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry, designing, supplying and delivering whole system solutions.

The SciLog® Suite will provide customers with the opportunity to test and optimize key unit operations within their production process, and support process development. In addition, the facility, which was launched in January, can also be used for in-depth training of operators and engineers.

Part of a major phased investment programme at the Birtley site, the SciLog Suite will initially feature the SciLog SciPure FD system, which automates, standardizes and encloses final bulk filtration and dispense operations. Biopharmaceutical manufacturers will be able to use this testing facility to gain a greater understanding of how their processes will work in practice.

In addition, Parker Bioscience Filtration is in the process of extending the SciLog Suite to include The SciLog SciFlex TFF, a semi-automated single-use bioprocessing system for tangential flow filtration, as well as the SciLog SciFlex NFF, a configurable semi-automated single-use bioprocessing system for normal flow filtration, and the SciLog SciPure System, which fully automates normal flow or tangential flow filtration. A number of other products will also be added to the suite.

Able to accommodate more than 20 people, the Suite provides a resource for personnel working in process development. Those using the testing facility will also be able to draw on the extensive expertise of Parker Bioscience Filtration's product specialists, single-use system design engineers and the company's Technical Support Group.

With another manufacturing site in Oxnard, California, Parker Bioscience Filtration supports companies both locally and globally in improving process control, efficiency and supply chain security throughout their production and packaging processes. The company provides integrated bioprocessing solutions that speed up development times, increase efficiency and safety to enable reproducible quality. Incorporating the expertise within SciLog and domnick hunter, Parker Bioscience Filtration combines filtration, single-use fluid-handling systems and sensors into automated single-use solutions.

Commenting on the opening of the SciLog Suite, Guy Matthews: Global Market Development Manager at Parker Bioscience Filtration, said: 'The SciLog Suite is another example of how Parker Bioscience Filtration is committed to working closely with our customers and supporting them with additional resources, that will ultimately strengthen supply chains and reduce the time to market. The suite will help to optimize processes and ultimately, generate greater efficiencies. Alongside additional new facilities here in Birtley, the suite is playing an important role in both strengthening our European operations and enhancing the services we offer to our global customer base.'
