Resolute operations in Quebec's North Shore region - the Baie-Comeau paper mill, the Outardes sawmill and the Côte-Nord woodlands - collectively received a 'Coup de Coeur' award from the Quebec Job Creator Awards, which were presented in Québec City on October 15. The annual awards program recognizes companies that contribute to economic development in the province by creating employment opportunities.

Like many regions across Canada, the North Shore region has been impacted by a workforce shortage, as a high number of longstanding employees take their well-deserved retirement. Despite this challenge, the three operations hired 140 new employees between 2017 and 2018.

The strengthening of our workforce in the North Shore can be attributed to a number of concrete actions undertaken by our management teams. These include partnering with organizations dedicated to workforce integration; supporting programs geared toward recent graduates; developing training programs to help current employees hone their skills; refining hiring practices to ensure consistency with Resolute's employer brand; and cultivating a strong internal network to promote recruitment.

'Resolute has successfully met our workforce needs by building synergies across the three operations,' said Mario Bélanger, Outardes sawmill manager. 'Our commitment to engaging with local communities, building strong relationships with First Nations partners, promoting inclusivity and diversity in the workplace, and prioritizing health and safety have helped set us apart.'

Congratulations to our North Shore teams for building a workplace where employees can learn, grow and contribute!
