19 September 2018, Moscow - Sberbank CIB, the corporate and investment banking business of Sberbank, has won the 2018 New Silk Road Finance Award in the category Best Local Bank in the Region for BRI (CEE & Central/West Asia). The awards are held by Asiamoney, a publication of the Euromoney Institutional Investor Group.

Every year an international jury from authoritative financial magazine Euromoney recognises local, international and Chinese financial institutions that are leading the way in promoting and financing the Belt & Road Initiative around the world.

The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, collectively known as the Belt and Road Initiative, was unveiled in 2013. Its objective is to create a transport, energy and trade corridor between Central and South Asia and Europe, strengthen scientific and technical cooperation and build economic links between nations.

Senior Vice President of Sberbank and Head of Sberbank CIB Igor Bulantsev commented:
