'At the beginning of April, we became the first service provider in Switzerland and Europe to put a 5G network into operation with selected customers. We launched three 5G smartphones in May, two of them in a world and Swiss premiere. Now, in another European and Swiss premiere, we are offering the HTC 5G Hub, the ideal 5G Wi-Fi hotspot on the go, at home, at a second residence, at small businesses, in temporary offices etc., and strengthening our leading position on 5G', says Olaf Swantee, CEO of Sunrise.

'We are delighted to launch the HTC 5G Hub with Sunrise as a 5G pioneer in Europe and Switzerland. The HTC 5G Hub is a unique device and a 5G pioneer, as well as an entertainment and business center that sets new standards,' says Graham Wheeler, HTC President Europe.

Super quick 5G Internet connections can currently be used in more than 218 cities and villages with the HTC 5G Hub and the Sunrise Mobile Internet unlimited 5G data subscription. In places where 5G is not yet available, Sunrise offers Internet connections with up to 700 Mbit/s with the largest 4G network in Switzerland. Mobile internet unlimited 5G also includes 1 GB data volume for roaming in Region 1 (Europe, USA, Canada) and can be combined with all data roaming options including the recently launched Travel data unlimited Europe for unlimited surfing in Europe (CHF 19.90 for 30 days).

The HTC 5G Hub can connect up to 20 devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smart TVs, via Wi-Fi. The HTC 5G Hub is ideal for private and commercial customers either on the go or at a fixed location and is a benchmark in 5G technology. Using it is highly intuitive due to its 5-inch touchscreen, Android 9 operating system, and voice control via Google Assistant.

Thanks to Android 9, streaming apps, TV shows and movies from Google Play Store can also be done via HDMI in up 4k quality on large TV screens. 4k gaming is also available on any cloud-based gaming service downloadable from Google Play Store.

On the go

With its compact size (12.9 x 10 x 0.43 cm) and lightweight design, the HTC 5G Hub is the ideal companion for mobile 5G use, for example when commuting in Switzerland. While using the 'hotspot' function on a smartphone flattens the battery pretty quickly, the HTC 5G Hub offers fast 5G connections all day thanks to its high-performance battery (7,660 mAh). The HTC 5G Hub can also be used to charge other devices via USB-C.

At home and at the office

The HTC 5G Hub is the ideal landline replacement at home, a second residence or shared flat, and at places like construction sites etc. With 5G connections up to 2 Gbit/s, the HTC 5G Hub offers fibre-equivalent Internet connections over the air, even where no fibre optic connections are available.

The HTC 5G is also a fantastic entertainment portal and supports 4K video streaming (e.g. Netflix) and gaming. Music, videos, and pictures can be shared quickly and easily with other devices, while its integrated speakers ensure rich sound.

At work, the HTC 5G Hub enables multimedia conferences, data and content sharing, fast and encrypted networks, and the option to configure a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to exchange data with corporate networks securely. It can also connect directly to corporate networks via an Ethernet port.

Fit for the future with cloud-based virtual reality (VR)

The HTC 5G Hub was designed for the future of 5G with Edge Computing (the computer server in 5G base stations). In future, VR content will come straight from the cloud to VIVE headsets via the HTC 5G Hub, without a PC or cable. This will make a high-standard, mobile VR experience possible in real time via 5G.

Sunrise offers the leading 5G network

At the beginning of April, Sunrise put the first Swiss 5G network into operation in more than 150 cities and towns. Sunrise now provides more than 218 cities and towns with 5G, as of the beginning of June. Sunrise is actively implementing its plan to provide the entire Swiss population with 5G and will offer 5G in all regions of Switzerland by the end of 2019.
