TietoEnator Corporation Press Release 9 December 2008 9.30 am EET

Tieto will organize its annual Capital Market Day for investors and
analysts today on 9 December in Helsinki. The event begins at 9.30 am
EET. The main topics include Tieto's renewed strategy, strategic
growth areas - Sweden, Russia and Telecom - as well as the company's
global delivery model.

The presenters during the event are Hannu Syrjälä, President & CEO
and members of Tieto's new Leadership Team Eva Gidlöf, Kavilesh
Gupta, Seppo Haapalainen, Bengt Möller and Pekka Viljakainen.

New operating model in 2009
Hannu Syrjälä's presentation will focus on the company's new
strategy, main goals and the new operating model that will be taken
into use in the beginning of 2009. He will also discuss the company's
achievements during 2008 and the current market situation.

"Tieto has gone through a major transformation during the past year.
Our Performance Improvement Programme has been one of the biggest
initiatives and it has progressed extremely well. By the end of the
third quarter, we had already achieved 70% of our savings targets,
and our profitability has improved clearly form last year. We have
also renewed our operating model to better meet the demands of our
customers and markets," says Hannu Syrjälä.

"The financial crisis and the fast deterioration of the overall
economy have impacted almost all our customer segments, especially
telecom. The visibility regarding our customers' industries and the
IT services market have weakened, and therefore predicting future
trends in the business is very challenging. On the other hand, the
current market situation offers opportunities for IT companies as
customers are rationalizing their operations by outsourcing some of
them to selected partners."

Three strategic growth areas
From the geographical perspective, Tieto looks for growth especially
in Sweden and Russia. Sweden is the biggest IT market of the Nordic
countries, and Russia offers great opportunities, especially on the
IT services side. In Russia, growth in the IT sector has been very
hardware-driven, but now the IT services area is expected to increase
their share. Tieto plans to be one of the main players on this market
and is therefore strengthening its presence in Russia.

Tieto is the biggest telecom R&D provider in Europe. The sector has
been very technology-oriented, but now it is gradually becoming more
consumer-driven. Consumers are demanding more and more services with
lower prices. Tieto responds to these requirements by offering its
customers new services, e.g., new ways of mobile marketing.

Global delivery model boosts efficiency
Tieto continues to invest in the development of its global delivery
model. The model aims at increasing cost-efficiencies and through
that it will also offset the impacts of wage inflation on the
company's profitability. Tieto plans to increase its delivery
capability in India and China especially. Both countries can provide
the needed competencies at competitive costs. The company's target is
to have 40% of its employees in its global centres of excellence by
2011.

New financial reporting in 2009
As a consequence of the changes in Tieto's operating model and
structure, the company will adopt a new financial reporting model at
the beginning of 2009. The new model reflects the company's new
structure. The main reporting dimensions will be countries and
industries.

The full programme of the Capital Market Day is available on the
company's website. The event can also be followed live through a
