A Message to Ulta Beauty Guests about the Coronavirus, From CEO Mary Dillon.

In these uncertain times, we continue to keep you and our associates at the heart of every decision we make. We are closely evaluating this fluid situation and following guidance from public health officials and government agencies to inform difficult but important decisions. To that end, I'd like to share an update on how we are continuing to adapt in order to protect your health & safety.

Our stores will remain temporarily closed until the time when we can safely reopen. As this situation is ever-changing, it's difficult to predict when that day will be. Because of this, with thoughtful consideration, we have decided to transition many of our store and salon associates to temporary furlough beginning April 19. We know this action has great impact on our talented, dedicated associates who are the heart of our company. Furloughed associates are eligible to apply for unemployment benefits, which were recently increased with the passing of the federal CARES Act.

We look forward to the time when we can safely welcome associates back to our stores and until then, we will do all we can to make sure they are supported. This includes support through the Ulta Beauty Associate Relief Program, which is part of the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation. The program provides monetary grants to associates facing personal hardships; we recently expanded grant criteria to include those in need of assistance due to a personal hardship as a result of a COVID-19. We are very proud of what this program has done for associates in the past and how it helps us take good care of each other today and in the future.

Our store closure reflects our responsibility to help protect the health and wellbeing of you, our associates, and the communities we serve. Until it is safe to enjoy the in-store experience again, we invite you to shop at ulta.com or on the Ulta Beauty app.

As you place orders, our associates in the Ulta Beauty distribution centers are working hard to get your orders filled, out the door, and to your homes safely. In recognition of their continued commitment to our essential operations, we recently shared that associates actively working at our distribution centers are receiving a $2-per-hour wage premium. To protect these associates, we have elevated our already high levels of sanitation and safety, including social distancing and increased cleaning protocols in alignment with guidelines from the CDC.

I want you to know that we will press forward with careful consideration at every turn. We will stay true to our company values with continued optimism for the time when we can safely welcome you and all of our associates back to Ulta Beauty. Until then, let's take good care of each other.

Things have been changing very quickly with the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the U.S. We've been closely monitoring and making changes along the way, as we take very seriously our responsibility to help care for and protect our associates, our guests, their families and the communities we serve. Because of this, we will be taking an important next step to temporarily close our Ulta Beauty stores across the U.S. as of 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 until at least Tuesday, March 31. Additionally, buy online pickup in store will not be available during this time. If you're shopping remotely, you can continue to visit us on our Ulta Beauty app or at Ulta.com.

We understand the impact this will have on our guests and we want you to know how much we appreciate your flexibility and understanding. We also understand the impact this will have on our associates, who are at the heart of our company. To care for them during this unprecedented time, we will continue to pay our store and salon associates, as well as provide benefits for those who are currently enrolled.

I want to make sure that our guests and associates know there is nothing more important than our collective health and safety. We look forward to the time when we can re-open our stores, bring our associates back together, and invite you back in to Ulta Beauty. Until then, please take care of yourselves, your loved ones, and others who may need help.

As a precaution and in partnership with local and state authorities as well as public health officials, we have temporarily closed Ulta Beauty stores in certain locations. Please check ulta.com/storeupdates for a list of those stores. We also may have changes to store hours in certain locations; you can call your local store or check store hours here. During this time, we encourage guests to use our Ulta Beauty app or ulta.com as an alternative way to shop Ulta Beauty.

In addition, based on the advice from health professionals, we are also asking our associates based in our corporate offices to work remotely at least through Friday, March 27.

We know this is on the top of all our minds right now and we thank you so much for your understanding as we all try to keep each other safe and healthy. As things are changing quickly, we'll continue to closely monitor, take action and update you as needed.

Out of caution, we are taking the additional step of temporarily stopping our skin, makeup, brow, lash and waxing services. Additionally, we'll have a no-touch approach when it comes to selling assistance like shade matching. Hair services will continue, and we'll be increasing our focus on hand washing, chair and hard surface cleaning before and after every guest, and tool sanitization. If you have a hair appointment and you're not feeling well, please reschedule. We'll be monitoring the situation closely and hair services may be modified in certain areas; please check with your local store for more information.

With our guests, associates, and their families at the center of everything we do as a company, I'd like to take the time to address concerns about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the steps we're taking in our stores, our corporate office, and our distribution centers to continue our focus on keeping people safe and healthy.

We're closely monitoring the situation and following guidance from public health officials and government agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, so we can make ongoing assessments and stay in constant communication with our associates to provide information and guidance as developments unfold.

The cleanliness of our stores is always a top priority for us, and now more than ever. In addition to our regular cleaning procedures, increased sanitization measures are being added to all locations with extra attention to product testers and high traffic areas. For any guest wanting to use a tester or trial a product, please ask an associate to assist you. In addition, GLAMlab, our virtual try-on experience in the Ulta Beauty App, is a great way to virtually explore, try on, and test colors and shades.

With our hair, skin, brow, and makeup services, hygiene is always a focus and we're taking additional steps here as well. For guests who have services booked, we're happy to reschedule your appointment for a later date. We encourage you to reschedule if you're not feeling well. Also note that some services may be temporarily unavailable in certain areas; please check with your local store for more information.

Associate care is always at the core of our commitment. For all store, corporate, and distribution center associates, we continue to be flexible, continue to focus on prevention, and continue to encourage them to stay at home if they are not feeling well. Additionally, U.S. travel has been limited, and international travel restricted.

We understand this situation is top of mind for all of us right now. As circumstances continue to change, our goal is, and will continue to be, to provide a safe and welcoming destination for all guests and associates across our communities.
