China's state planner has approved a project with total investment of 12.33 billion yuan ($1.8 billion) to expand the airport in the southern city of Shenzhen, it said on Friday.
After the expansion, which includes construction of a new runway and taxiway system, the airport is expected to handle 80 million passengers and 2.6 million tonnes of cargo and mail annually by 2030, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said in a statement.
