Hollis Bobby

Bobby joined Breakthrough Energy Catalyst in June 2021 from Facebook where he led its global data center development efforts, as well as its energy program sourcing of over 6 gigawatts of new renewable energy projects globally.
Prior to his tenure at Facebook, Bobby led renewable energy efforts at Apple, leading new innovative market structures in Asia and the US that enabled Apple to become one of the first companies to achieve 100% renewable energy.
Since 2007, Bobby has spent his career focused exclusively on energy and renewable generation acceleration.
Before his energy work in the technology sector, Bobby led renewable energy for Nevada’s largest utility, NV Energy, adopting customer-oriented approaches that radically changed renewables within the utility sector.
His tenure included innovative customer projects with Apple and Nellis Air Force Base, as well as a state-wide SmartGrid deployment and major policy changes to retire all coal and replace it with renewable generation.
Early in his career, Bobby practiced corporate and regulatory law at Jenner & Block and Baker & Mackenzie, in Washington, DC, and Chicago, as well as development efforts at Invenergy LLC, one of the largest renewable energy developers in the US.
Bobby holds a J.D.
in Law from the University of Iowa College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida.
Growing up as a military child, Bobby lived in many places in Germany and the US, and he continues to enjoy experiencing new places and travel – Buenos Aires and Melbourne being two favorites.
He and his partner split their time between San Francisco and Las Vegas, where Bobby gets to enjoy a variety of hiking, running and biking options.
He also enjoys running half marathons in new cities to combine his passions for running and travel, and is an enthusiastic, but mediocre, tennis player.
