Joan Edelman Spero

Joan Edelman Spero is currently the Director at the International Center For Transitional Justice, Inc. She is also a Trustee-Emeritus at The Trustees of Columbia University in The City of New York, a Trustee-Emeritus at Amherst College, a Trustee at the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, a Member of the American Philosophical Society, a Member of the Council of American Ambassadors, a Member of the Atlantic Institute for International Affairs, a Trustee at The Morgridge Institute for Research, Inc., and a Member of the American Academy of Diplomacy.
In her former positions, Dr. Spero served as a Director at Delta Air Lines, Inc., First Data Corp., and Citibank NA (New York).
She was also an Independent Director at International Business Machines Corp., International Paper Co., and Citigroup, Inc. Additionally, she held the position of Executive VP-Corporate Affairs & Communications at American Express Co., was a Member of the Supervisory Board at ING Groep NV, and served as President of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
She was also the Ambassador-United States to the United Nations Economic & Social Council.
Dr. Spero obtained her graduate and doctorate degrees from The Trustees of Columbia University in The City of New York in 1973.
She also holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, which she received in 1966.
