The firm was formerly known as MKM Longboat Advisers, established in 2005 through a spin-off from the US-based Sagamore Hill Capital Management LP. They ceased operating in 2009 in the wake of the Lehman Bros. collapse. Based in London. Fortrinn provides fund management services to corporate plan sponsors, endowments, financial intermediaries, funds of funds, insurers, high-net worth individuals, family offices and private banks. They manage offshore hedge funds.

The firm managed the MKM Multi-Strategy Fund and the MKM Volatility Strategies Fund. In addition to the London office, MKM had an office in Jersey.
