He is one of Atlanta's best-known and most highly respected money managers.
He was co-founder and chairman (1970-1982) of Atlanta Capital Management Company, directing its growth into the second-largest investment-counseling firm in the Southeast, with $500 million under management.
In 1982, Mr. Astrop formed Astrop Advisory Corporation, which, in 1986, became a pioneer in the management of portfolios using no-load mutual funds.
He has appeared on TV (CNN and CNBC) and been frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Investor's Business Daily and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has been a member of the New York Stock Exchange since 1981 and the American Stock Exchange since 1998.
He is a member of the Dean's Advisory Board at Emory University's graduate business school.
Mr. Astrop is a graduate of the University of Richmond and earned a M.B.A.
degree in finance from the Harvard Graduate School of Business, where he was a recipient of the J.
Spencer Love Fellowship for academic achievement.
