PEMBROKE, Bermuda (AP) _ RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. (RNR) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $43 million.

The Pembroke, Bermuda-based company said it had profit of 77 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for investment gains, came to 52 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 93 cents per share.

The insurance company posted revenue of $1.11 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $1.08 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $748.8 million, or $16.29 per share. Revenue was reported as $3.77 billion.

RenaissanceRe shares have decreased 1% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $193.69, a climb of 39% in the last 12 months.
