International stocks trading in New York closed higher on Wednesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts ticked up 0.3% to 145.62. The European index edged up 0.1% to 139.85. The Asian index rose 0.7% to 166.79. The Latin American index moved up 0.4% to 211.86, while the emerging-markets index advanced 1% to 285.46.

Prudential PLC was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

The insurance-and-investment business fell 2.8% after it said it appointed Anil Wadhwani as chief executive with effect Feb. 25, 2023. Current interim CEO Mark FitzPatrick will continue to lead the business and support the transition, the company said.

Online game developer and publisher GRAVITY Co. rose 2.8% after it said "Ragnarok V: Returns" launched Wednesday.
