International stocks trading in New York closed higher Wednesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged up 0.2% to 132.33. The European index ticked up 0.1% to 123.85. The Asian index rose 0.5% to 159.60. The Latin American index gained 0.4% to 185.00, while the emerging-markets index advanced 0.4% to 277.26.

VNET Group Inc. was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

The Chinese data-center operator rose 7.6% after founder and chairman Josh Sheng Chen on Tuesday proposed buying the company for $8.20 per American depositary share.

Swiss technology company ABB Ltd.'s ADRs declined 0.6% after announcing a new manufacturing facility in Columbia, S.C., a multi-million dollar investment to increase the production of electric vehicle chargers.
