International stocks trading in New York closed lower on Wednesday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged down 1.9% to 126.99. The European index slipped 1.6% to 118.77. The Asian index lost 2.6% to 152.40. The Latin American index declined 1.1% to 184.05, while the emerging-markets index dropped 2.6% to 264.89.
AstraZeneca PLC was among those companies whose ADRs traded actively.
The pharmaceutical giant ticked down 1.7% following news that its tezepelumab treatment Tezspire has been approved in the European Union for patients with severe asthma.
U.K. bank Barclays PLC slipped 3.8% following the appointment of Marie Freier as global co-head of sustainable and impact investment banking, alongside Brian Reilly.
